At HUGO BOSS, sustainability isn’t just a promise – it’s a cornerstone of our strategy, guiding our commitment to being “Sustainable Throughout.” This dedication fuels our vision of a future free of waste and pollution. That’s why our sustainability strategy tackles our industry's biggest challenges head-on – from pushing towards zero emissions and embracing circularity to leveraging nature-positive materials and fighting microplastics. Every step forward is driven by our passion to make a real difference.
We are convinced that meaningful change begins with the conscious choice of materials. Beyond this, we focus on circular designs, conserving valuable raw materials and moving closer to a truly sustainable future.
Materials shape a product’s impact on the planet – so we make every choice count. That’s why we’re committed to sourcing and integrating more sustainable alternatives into our BOSS and HUGO collections. From cotton and wool to cellulose-based fibers, polyester and polyamide – we’re constantly exploring innovative solutions to reduce our environmental footprint and drive lasting, positive change.

COTTON X REGENERATIVE FARMING
We believe that sustainable fashion begins at the source – right where the seeds are sown. That’s why we promote regenerative farming, especially in cotton cultivation, to transform agriculture into a force for good. Unlike traditional methods, regenerative farming revitalizes soil, minimizes critical agrochemicals, and nurtures biodiversity. Our target? By 2030, 100% of the natural materials in our products are sourced according to regenerative principles or closed-loop recycling, creating a positive impact both on people and on the planet.

polyester & polyamide
POLYESTER & POLYAMIDE X HEIQ AEONIQ
We’re redefining fashion with AeoniQ – an innovative cellulose yarn developed with HeiQ, which aims for the performance of polyester and polyamide, with notably less environmental impact. AeoniQ is free from microplastic pollution, making it a true game-changer for style and sustainability. In 2024, we launched the first BOSS sneakers made with AeoniQ. Our goal? To eliminate polyester and polyamide from all products by 2030 - proving that innovation and responsibility go hand in hand.

cellulose
CELLULOSE-BASED MATERIALS X FOREST PROTECTION
We embrace cellulose-based materials like viscose and lyocell as degradable, more sustainable alternatives to synthetics. To ensure responsible sourcing, we partner with Canopy-certified suppliers who share our commitment to protecting ancient and endangered forests while upholding strict chemical-management standards. Our revolutionary AeoniQ yarn is also Canopy-certified – setting new benchmarks for the next generation of eco-friendly textiles.

wool
WOOL X ANIMAL WELFARE
Wool is a natural, biodegradable fiber with exceptional qualities. At HUGO BOSS, we take responsibility for our ethical sourcing, focusing on animal welfare. Our commitment to regenerative farming applies here as well, for instance prohibiting mulesing and promoting grass feeding while minimizing animal transport. It’s a philosophy rooted in respect, much like our decision in 2016 to remove angora wool from our collections.

At HUGO BOSS, we know that choosing more sustainable materials is just the beginning. To create real impact, we must embrace circularity at the heart of everything we do. That's why we’ve set ourselves an ambitious goal: by 2030, 80% of our apparel products will be circular. This commitment isn’t just about reducing waste, it’s about protecting natural resources and actively drive the transition toward a truly circular economy.
